Mania-The
"High" side of Bipolar Disorder. Marked by
feelings of euphoria, high energy, and
enthusiasm.
There is also a dangerous side to mania...
Mania Affects
Individuals With Bipolar
Differently
Mania- Not everyone has the same exact
symptoms when in a manic state and not all
individuals with bipolar
have manic states with the same frequency.
As for the symptoms of mania, most people
would describe the feeling as "feeling the best
they ever have, like they can accomplish anything
they can". The mood is extremely elevated. Now,
that is a manic state without psychotic moments,
or hypomania.
The psychotic moments involve hallucinations,
delusions, and even paranoia. This is major danger zone!
Mania is very
seductive...
Mania has a
seduction to it and a lot of people with
bipolar may
purposely chase it by not taking their medication
or doing other things to help bring
mania on. I DO
NOT SUGGEST THIS. This illness is very severe and should be
treated with antipsychotic medicine and/or a mood
stabilizer, and possibly
other medications depending on which extreme you
tend to experience more but don't take it from me!
Please see a psychiatrist if you suspect you
have bipolar illness. Only a doctor can
recommend what is right for you. Seek
a counselor for
treatment, and if you are manic check
yourself into the local hospital before you hurt
yourself of someone else.
